The NHBCUAA, a non-profit community-based organization, is the nation’s largest network of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) graduates. It unites local alumni associations with an outreach exceeding one million strong.
We serve as a vital conduit, assisting companies in their Diversity, Inclusion, and recruiting initiatives. Our core community programming focuses on critical areas such as Health & Wellness, Hunger, and Higher Education, directly impacting African American communities nationwide.

Interested in Becoming an Affiliate?
Interested parties are encouraged to carefully consider the requirements for starting a new Affiliation Group and ensure compliance prior to submitting the Basic NHBCUAA Affiliation Application. List of standard Affiliate Requirements:
- All members of the applicant’s Affiliation group must be members of their university’s National Alumni Association. Each affiliation group shall be in good standing with its National Alumni Association.
- Approved NHBCUAA licensing agreement
Adhere to the National HBCUAA Bylaws, financial obligations, national programs, branding, and marketing requirements of the National HBCUAA. - Obtain an EIN (Employer Identification Number) from the IRS and maintain IRS 501 (c) (3) tax-exempt status.
- Pay initial and annual Affiliation dues and licensing fees per the NHBCUAA bylaws
- Provide NHBCUAA with the information required to prepare
the yearly tax return. - Implement required programs and signature events; 5K Run/Walk, Higher Education, and community outreach programs.
